Pump Track Now Open – Please Use the Correct Access Route and Follow the Rules

West Monkton Parish Council is delighted to confirm that the new community pump track is now officially open and ready to enjoy.

This exciting facility has been brought into being by West Monkton Parish Council after the original housing developers reneged on their Somerset Council planning obligation. The Parish Council has worked hard to deliver a high quality facility that will benefit local young people and families for many years to come.

The pump track is one of only a small number of facilities of its kind in Somerset, making it a valuable community asset and a fantastic addition to our parish.

To help protect neighbouring sports facilities and ensure the pump track can be enjoyed by everyone, users are asked to access the track via the designated entrance only. The correct route is through the dog walking area and along the access track leading directly to the facility. Photographs accompanying this article show the approved entrance route.

We would ask all users not to access the pump track through the sports pitches. Fencing has now been installed to prevent this, following previous unofficial access before the track formally opened. Protecting the sports pitches from damage is essential so that they remain in good condition for all users.

The pump track has received safety sign off from RoSPA, The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. The safety rules and site arrangements have been put in place following RoSPA’s expert guidance and are designed to support the safe and enjoyable use of the facility.

Signage has been installed at the pump track entrance outlining the rules for use. These rules are in place for the safety, enjoyment and benefit of everyone using the facility and must be respected at all times.

West Monkton Parish Council is asking parents and carers to take a moment to speak with their children and young people about using the pump track responsibly, following the rules and treating the facility with care.
