A Somerset construction company has been recognised among the best in the country after winning a regional title and reaching the national finals of the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2025. 🏆
Benjamin Henry Limited, a building and joinery firm based near Taunton, has been named a South West regional winner and Top 5 UK finalist in the category Best Residential Conversion to a Single New Home for its work on the Church Barn project in Somerset.
The award recognises outstanding standards in construction, with winners selected by professionals from Local Authority Building Control, which oversees building regulation compliance across England and Wales.
According to the company, the recognition came after a building control inspector nominated the project during construction, having observed the quality of the structural work, detailing and site management as the build progressed.
The judging process involved technical submissions, staged construction photographs and interviews with members of the project team, the clients and building control representatives.
The Church Barn development involved converting an existing barn structure into a single residential home, with the project team focusing on the integrity of the build, compliance with regulations and craftsmanship throughout the process.
Regional recognition places the Somerset project among the best in the South West, with winners from across England and Wales going on to compete at the national stage of the awards. The annual event celebrates projects and professionals who demonstrate exceptional standards in construction, safety and quality.
Founded in 2020 by director Benjamin Cavaghan, the Taunton-based firm specialises in construction, joinery and bespoke building projects, with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and sustainable building practices.
The company said the award reflects the teamwork and attention to detail involved in delivering complex construction projects, from structural work through to the finished build.
