September Newsletter – Heating and Health

The ongoing global energy crisis has far-reaching effects, and one of
the most critical aspects is its impact on people’s health. As fuel and
electricity prices rise, many individuals are facing fuel poverty,
struggling to maintain warmth in their homes during the colder
months.

Cold homes pose both short-term and long-term health risks:

  • Respiratory Conditions: Exposure to low temperatures increases
    the risk of respiratory infections.
  • Circulatory Issues: Cold environments can lead to higher risks of stroke and heart attacks.

The energy crisis has pushed more people into desperate
situations through increasingly high energy bills increasing the
concern that some will not be putting their heating on and
keeping warm and well this winter.
