This summer, the Neighbourhood Policing Team will be holding ’Engagement Events’ across Taunton. This is the perfect opportunity to come and meet your local PCSOs. The team will be happy to answer any questions or queries, listen to your concerns and offer advice on a variety of subjects.

Crime Prevention

The opportunist burglar enjoys the summer months as they can easily gain access into a property through open doors and windows. Take simple precautions such as locking windows and doors when you go out, even if just stepping next door or out into the garden. If your doors and windows are not secure, neither is your property!

Remember it is not just the house itself that you have to think about. Reports of thefts from gardens, outbuildings, sheds and garages are an issue too – particularly in rural areas. The value of property stored in sheds and outbuildings is often much greater than you may realise.

Traffic Operation

This month, officers from the Neighbour-hood Team carried out a traffic operation in Taunton.

In 2 hours, we pulled over 11 vehicles for the following; speeding, excessively loud exhausts and illegal number plates.

From those 11 drivers;

  • 2 have been reported to court for speeding
  • 1 with an illegal number plate had legal plates in the boot of the car so this was reattached the roadside
  • The rest were give strong words of advice regarding their driving manor
