Welcome to our brand new #MeetTheTeamMonday series where we introduce you to members of the West Monkton Parish Council Team and give you insight into who they are and what they are involved with by posing the following questions:
What is your main responsibility?
What is the most rewarding aspect of being in your role at WMPC?
What has surprised you the most about being part of the WMPC team?
First up is Chair of West Monkton Parish Council, Stuart Haskins….
What is your main responsibility?
I manage Parish Council matters ensuring (with the assistance of the Dept Chair and Clerk) that guidelines, policies, procedures and protocols are correctly followed and complied with whilst at the same time encouraging debate and dialogue about matters affecting the Parish. It is essential in my role to forward, promote and articulate ideas clearly to foster open dialogue between Councillors, Parishioners, Volunteers and Supporters, and to see that conflict or errors are resolved correctly and fairly by listening to all sides, and to consult before making decisions. Being fair honest and above all approachable is essential in my role.
What is the most rewarding aspect of being in your role at WMPC?
The most rewarding aspect is to see how by working together, we have transformed our Council to be a respected body held up as a model for others to emulate, as we have faced and continue to face the challenges of an ever-increasing community population.
What has surprised you the most about being part of the WMPC team?
What has surprised and thrilled me most is the way in which a growing number of the community are volunteering to do their bit, taking pride in our environment whilst at the same time getting pleasure and a sense of well being from being part of something very special – “a community team”
