This is a great opportunity for a young adult interested in getting some training and experience and could link into our Community Fridge initiative. Thanks to CCS, we received a Food Resilience Grant to set up a community fridge in West Monkton Parish, we have now purchased a fridge which is temporarily being housed in the BACH. We are in the process of agreeing a location for the shed which has also been funded by this grant. We are in discussion with Monkton Heathfield Coop who are also looking to support us by donating food they would otherwise throw away and waste. The aim of this initiative is to reduce waste and we hope lots of members of our community will both give and collect food so that we can work together to reduce waste.
Since then we have been in contact with a company called Edventure who are offering training to young adults ages 18 to 35 who learn best by doing and are up for a challenge! This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals and would give our initiative an excellent start here in West Monkton Parish Council.
If you are interested or would like further information please do not hesitate to contact me, Kate Welsh at community@westmonkton.net
