Congratulations to our wonderful Assistant Clerk, Community – Kate Welsh, who has received the Chair’s Award for Services to the Community from Chair of Somerset Council Cllr Mike Best.

It is wonderful to see Kate’s tireless work recognised in this way. Kate is an amazing support to residents of all ages across our community of West Monkton, Bathpool and Monkton Heathfield (as well as encouraging, supporting and working collaboratively with other parishes)

Since Kate Welsh became an employee of West Monkton Parish Council in 2021, she has worked
tirelessly at engaging the community in a parish that has very quickly expanded following substantial new
development.
From Kate’s efforts, there is a strong sense of community in the Parish, initiatives and events have been
created to serve the needs of old and young, newer and older members of our community.
Kate has successfully managed to recruit in excess of 130 volunteers to sign up to support the initiatives
and events.
The positive impacts of Kate’s work to build our community will be enjoyed and benefitted from for many
years to come.
